For unmanaged Servers – Our support will assist with hardware and connections issues related to your VPS.VPS devices are considered self-managed.While as a courtesy,we can attempt to assist where we can and provide errors and messages to the problem at hand mail servers and third-party applications are outside the scope of our support. Now for Mails Functionality On WintelWeb For VPSes below Information is simply based on our infrastructure as per its setup and what requirements are needed for a functional mail server.
Basically,Port 25 is blocked on our VPS Hosting servers. This is a security measure adopted by the majority of hosting providers to prevent abuse. To send emails from your VPS, you can either use alternative ports such as 587 or 465, employ a third-party email service, or consider upgrading to one of our dedicated servers.
Mail servers can be setup on any of our servers whether they are self-managed or managed. Since you say that you have an unmanaged server and this works this would verify that this is the case. The only restriction related to the current mail server having issues would be that VPS server have the port 25 blocked on their connections. There are no other restrictions for these devices as we have several clients using VPS’s for secure mail already.
These types of setups may require 3rd party software to redirect mail to the needed secure ports 587 or 465 from port 25. This of course would depend on how it’s being setup and configured by the client. Furthermore, related to managed services, we do not offer managed service for our VPS servers as they are all self manged by the clients. This option would only be available to our dedicated machines.
We would like to assure you further once again that mail servers on our VPS servers are possible as we have several client utilizing these server for such services. We do understand the clients may not want to configure or setup their services to utilize the software needed to get this running. The most we could do is advise you while it is possible it would require strict configurations setting to be applied due to port 25 being blocked. Here we do understand and apologize for the inconvenience. This is why our recommendation would be to utilize a dedicated server as there are no limitation or restrictions for these devices.Your standard configuration should work as intended, just as on your other servers. If you would like to express any concerns related to our systems and procedures I can have this reviewed by our QA team when they are in office.
In case if you opt for dedicated servers, then there are no blocks as laid or restrictions being applied. With this in mind there is no need to any further extra email account’s configuration than what you should have.Getting back to this, in case of VPS, no matter what type of email application or service you are running they will be using the standard port 25, 465, and 587.In order to utilize port 465 and 587 additional SSL/TLS security applications must be in place and you would need a relay to redirect all mail communication over port 25 to the secure ports. This is just one part of the system. The receiving recipients also much know to listen through these ports as well.
As for the Webmail in cPanel, communication and configuration, this may need to be changed only on VPS devices due to the standard SMTP port being blocked. While we will do our best to provide you as much information as possible our email configuration and third-party applications are outside the scope of our support. If you need assistance with Webmail to get these working as intended, you may have to reach out to their support directly or review their documentation for this specific setup.
Whether mails on your vpses would work , we are unable to assure you 100% as this would depend on the end client’s configuration. This would depend on the needs and wants of the client and what software they are willing to utilize. Not all relays and software work or are configured the same and they may not have features that other use to allow this specific configuration. If the client needs to utilize ports 25 for any type of emails, we will recommend a dedicated server as our VPS have this port blocked.Under no circumstances can we remove the filter for this block as its for only our VPS devices.
Port 25 allows the SMTP servers to reliably communicate between themselves across the internet. Since it’s dedicated to inter-server email transmission, blocking or restricting this port can severely impact the flow of email traffic, especially for outgoing mail delivery. So in this case this would be an issue for you with the VPS considering it is blocked. Its highly recommended to go for some reliable mail relay services such as SendGrid, Mailgun, Amazon SES (Simple Email Service), Postmark, SMTP2GO, SparkPost, and Mailjet, if port 25 is blocked on your VPS or upgrade to our Dedicated Servers.
